Year-on-year releases of iPhones always bring excitement and anticipation among tech enthusiasts and Apple fans alike. With the next iPhone on the horizon, people are eagerly speculating about the new features and improvements it will bring. Here’s more about the possibilities when it comes to the iPhone 16.
Faster USB-C port
The iPhone 15 comes with a USB-C which allows it to connect to a variety of devices. But the phone has improved transfer speeds rather than charging speeds. Faster charging could have been a more welcome feature. After all, waiting for your iPhone to charge can be a frustrating experience. Thus, better USB-C connectivity is one of the highly anticipated features of the next iPhone.
Better screen
While users enjoy a 120Hz screen on the Pro and Pro Max, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus only offer 60Hz. What a shame! Higher hz allows for smoother scrolling and more fluid animations, providing a better overall user experience. It would be great if the standard model of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus could offer a 120Hz screen. If they don’t, other competition in the mobile space might overshadow it.
However, the iPhone 16 is already expected to possibly have a larger screen than its predecessors. This increase in screen size will provide users with a more immersive viewing experience, especially when it comes to multimedia content and gaming.
Camera upgrades
iPhones have always had notable camera photo-taking abilities, and the iPhone 15’s users can take advantage of a 48MP sensor, great brightness, lower noise levels than previous models, and other features. The other variants have additional features to make their cameras even better. However, with the rapid advancements in smartphone camera technology, it could be disappointing if the iPhone 16 doesn’t come with additional camera upgrades.
For instance, noise levels in shadows, details in videos, and zooming options could all be worked on. We would also like to see improvements in colors in photos and videos. Although the current model’s colors are vivid and bright, they still show some imperfections.
Moreover, the Pro models could feature a 48-megapixel Ultra Wide lens for better image quality. The Pro could also get a 5x Telephoto lens, which its Pro Max counterpart already has.
Improved battery with less overheating
iPhone 15 has a 3349 mAh battery, which already performs better than a lot of competition. The iPhone 15 Plus and Pro Max have even better batteries. However, with the new model, we hope for even more impressive battery performance.
Overheating is a major problem with smartphones, especially during heavy usage such as gaming or streaming multimedia content. The iPhone 16 may include a graphene system that has better conductivity than the current copper system. The Pro models may get a metal casing, which will provide the phone with additional support against overheating.
Less negative environmental impact
Apple continues to make progress when it comes to its carbon footprint. The average carbon footprint of the entire iPhone 15 lineup is 5.6kg of CO2-e (1,2) less than the previous model. Its battery uses 100% recycled cobalt, and the packaging is made of 68% recycled fiber. According to Apple, the non-recycled fiber is ethically sourced.
Let’s hope for additional change in the upcoming models. Even more environmentally friendly materials would be especially great to see.

Easier to repair
Repairability is important because it helps you use your device for as long as possible and reduces electronic waste. iPhones are generally already repairable, but because of the complex stacking of their inside parts and pairing issues, the phones’ repairability is still something to work on.
The iPhone 15 is still a great phone
Don’t get us wrong: this article isn’t meant to completely discredit the iPhone 15. It offers a range of impressive features and capabilities. But every year brings new features and advancements in technology, and as long as Apple keeps releasing new phones, this will most likely be the case for them too.
