The evolution of the iPhone over the years

The iPhone has stood out in the market for its innovative features and design, from the first generation to the latest models. It has revolutionised technology, and it all started in 2007 when the first iPhone hit the shelves. Here’s how the iPhone changed over the years and what it brings to the table today.

Modern design

Whether you look at the iPhone 14 or the very first iPhone that first appeared in 2007, one thing is clear: Apple has always prioritised sleek and modern design. The iPhone continues to be a leader in smartphone design, making it both stylish and durable.

Today, most phones try to go for a minimalist, sleek approach when it comes to design. But many phones still had keyboards and other outdated features when the iPhone first came out. Starting off as a sleek touchscreen with a single button, some of the newer models have no buttons at all and multiple rear cameras.

The iPhone’s innovative design revolutionised the smartphone industry and set a new standard for aesthetics and functionality. And some older models, like the iPhone 7, are still available as refurbished phones even today.

Screen size

When we compare the first iPhone’s 3.5-inch screen size to today’s iPhone 14 Pro Max’s 6.69-inch screen size, the difference in screen size is significant. Larger screens let users see more content and make it easier to navigate through apps, work, images, and so forth.

While the iPhone offered mini versions with some previous models like the iPhone 13 Mini and the iPhone 12 Mini, it would seem that users have a preference for larger screen sizes, as the iPhone 14 no longer has a mini version.

Photography

In the early to mid-2010s, the iPhone started to become known for its high-quality camera and user-friendly editing features. Instead of having to buy a digital camera, many people simply bought an iPhone to take pictures. Therefore, the iPhone made taking pictures better, easier, and more accessible.

Today, many phones have advanced cameras, but back then, this was a game-changer. While phones can’t quite meet the standard of a DSLR camera, they sure can take great-quality, crisp pictures these days.

Processing power

The processing power of the iPhone, and phones in general, has come a long way as well. The first iPhone allowed users to communicate, listen to music, or play games. These days, the iPhone 14 can handle powerful graphics, 4K videos, and games that are way more advanced.

And here’s a fun fact: the processor of a modern iPhone is about 5,000 times more powerful than a computer in 1985.  Isn’t it wild to think that such a device can fit in your pocket?

Easy-to-use interface

Apple’s interface has always stood out from competitors and is one of the reasons some Apple users stick to the phone even today. It’s not only sleek and aesthetically pleasing; it also allows for features that make using the device a breeze.

Over time, the iPhone’s features have become even more user-friendly. From grouping your photos in albums, to night mode, and deleting duplicate photos. There are many features you can take advantage of to make the most out of your Apple device. Plus, they’re well-integrated with other Apple devices, too.

Connectivity

The modern iPhone’s connectivity options are also top-notch, allowing users to share files, call, or use apps seamlessly. While the first iPhone had 2G technology as standard, new models now offer 5G connectivity, allowing for faster download and upload speeds.

And so much more

The iPhone has also changed in various other aspects. While there’s still much value in older models, new models have new features that are a selling point for many users.

If you want a new iPhone model for a fraction of the price, you can get a refurbished model at the iOutlet. However, even older models are still functional and meet the needs and preferences of many users.
